Orthodontics in Hollywood, Florida:
When you’re ready to straighten your teeth in Hollywood, Florida, we’re here to give you the beautiful, straight smile of your dreams.
Straight teeth provide you with a confident smile. In addition to the cosmetic benefits of orthodontic treatment, properly aligned teeth have a positive impact on your overall oral health.
Benefits of a straight bite include:
Cosmetic – A straight tooth smile allows you to smile with confidence.
Easier to keep teeth clean and prevent decay – Crowded teeth are often more difficult to clean. Tight spaces are challenging to clean as toothbrushes may not reach all surface areas. As a result, bacteria can build up in crowded spaces making teeth more susceptible to decay.
Easier for further dental work such as crowns, veneers, and fillings – when teeth are in their correct positions, it removes a layer of complication to performing dental procedures.
Prevent painful jaw issues: jaw misalignment can result in TMJ – an often painful popping and clicking in the jaw.
We are proud to offer orthodontic screenings and ClearCorrect invisible aligners to our patients.
While orthodontic treatments usually begin in the pre-teen years, early orthodontic screenings identify potential issues and help patients prepare for future care.
Beginning around age 6, Dr. Canela-Pichardo will monitor your child’s teeth and work with you to create a plan for early orthodontic treatment, if needed.
Early orthodontic interventions such as palatal expanders guide the jaw as it grows – allowing adult teeth to move into place correctly – and avoid more extensive treatment in the future. Guiding jaw growth has similar benefits – and in extreme cases, prevents jaw surgery in the teen years.
Our Hollywood, Florida office is equipped to handle most mild to moderate orthodontic issues with ClearCorrect invisible aligners.
ClearCorrect invisible aligners are a new way to correct orthodontic issues – without the hassle or visibility of braces. Straightening teeth through a series of clear plastic aligners, ClearCorrect provides a gentle solution to orthodontic issues without the hassle and visibility of traditional braces.
ClearCorrect addresses the most common orthodontic issues including:
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps and spaces
We’re often asked if ClearCorrect is better than braces. Our patients find several advantages to ClearCorrect.
Because ClearCorrect uses clear plastic aligners to straighten your teeth, your treatment is virtually unnoticeable. Unlike the obvious brackets and wires of traditional braces, your aligners serve as “invisible braces” allowing you to discreetly obtain treatment.
2. Simple care routine
Braces require a meticulous care routine and many patients find it challenging to properly brush and floss around brackets and wires. Since ClearCorrect aligners are removable, you simply continue your brushing and flossing routine along with regular dental checkups.
3. No food restrictions
Because ClearCorrect aligners are removable, you can continue to eat your favorite foods during treatment. Braces come with a long list of foods to avoid, including popcorn, chips, nuts, and gum. Since you don’t have to worry about damage to brackets, you’re free to continue enjoying your favorite foods.
4. Reduced discomfort
Adjustments to braces are often painful and many patients find brackets and wires uncomfortable. ClearCorrect aligners reposition teeth very gently and most patients experience only mild discomfort when they begin using a new aligner tray.
Patients are pleasantly surprised to find ClearCorrect treatment is simple and gentle.
During your initial consultation, our team will take a scan of your teeth. The 3D images from the scan are uploaded to a lab where your customized aligner trays are created.
Once you receive your trays, you will begin treatment. Each tray is worn for approximately two weeks – and then traded off for the next tray in the series. You’ll come into our office for occasional checkups to ensure treatment is going smoothly and no adjustments to the treatment plan are needed.
The exact length of treatment time depends on the extent of corrections needed. Most patients wear aligners for 12-18 months, but the exact length of time depends on your precise treatment plan and your consistency in wearing your aligners.
